Missions

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations

Matthew 28:19

Below are our main missions that Risen Savior participates in annually.  Many of our ministries also donate items throughout the year to local organizations in need.
Annual Community Christmas Concert
Each year we host two concerts and welcome everyone to attend.  The concerts happen in mid-December (see event calendar for details).  Admission is two canned goods/non-perishable items. All donations go to AZCEND to help our local community in need.
Annual Thanksgiving Turkey & Meal Drive
This event takes place mid-November (see events calendar for details).  In 2023, we  collected enough donations of frozen turkeys and checks from our members, friends and Sun Lakes residents to provide AZCEND and CFLA with 105 turkeys, plus meal items, and over $3,000 in donations to Chandler families who struggle to put food on their tables.   Our Men's & Women's Ministries lead this drive, contact Chuck at chuck.deuth@risensavioraz.org with any questions.
Children's First Leadership Academy (CFLA)
Women's Ministry Mission: The Children First Leadership Academy provides services and resources to homeless or low income/at risk youth (K-12th grade), parents and elderly in the Phoenix area.  Multiple times a year, congregation members provide goods that support and give hope to these families.  Any donations can be dropped off at the Church Office or contact annie.wolf@risensavioraz.org for pick-up.
Christian Outreach for Africa (COFA)
Christian Outreach for Africa (COFA) was organized by people who decided to act on their Christian faith by attacking the cycle of poverty in parts of Africa. Rather than simply provide charity, however, COFA helps fund sustainable projects that have a permanent impact. Our holistic program that provides quality Christian education, basic health care, safe and affordable housing, and meaningful employment, gives the impoverished the opportunity to create a better future for themselves. We currently have projects in South Africa and Uganda.
Guatemala Friendship Ministry - HopeChest
LA CUCHILLA CAREPOINT
This is a partnership between Children’s HopeChest, Gethsemane Church, Summit Community Church, Saving Grace Lutheran Church and Risen Savior Lutheran Church to provide nutrition, medical and educational support, in addition to discipleship and emotional support to children in this community.
How Can You Participate in the Guatemala Friendship Ministry? By becoming a Friendship Partner to a child in La Cuchilla or By becoming a gift donor to facilitate development projects in La Cuchilla or By participating in mission trips to La Cuchilla or By keeping the Guatemala Friendship Ministry in your prayers
Why Would You Become a Friendship Partner?
The way Children’s HopeChest is structured, a Friendship Partnership enables you to enjoy the unique opportunity to have a one-on-one personal relationship with a child from La Cuchilla. Through letters, photographs and even potential mission visits you will have an opportunity to build a friendship that can last a lifetime and provide hope for a child.
Operation Christmas Child
This event takes place at the end of October-see calendar for details.  In 2023, Risen Savior packed 323 shoeboxes and donated $3000.  You have helped to spread the message of Jesus to millions of children around the world. THANK YOU!!
